Trophy Room

Inaugurated in 2025, Nan LoBue is proud to donate this CHC perpetual trophy in honor of her horse, Key to the Blue, whom she has owned since 2012. Key to the Blue’s barn name, “Sky,” derives from her sire, the famous Quarter Horse Skys Blue Boy. Nan and Sky competed in CHC shows regularly from 2012 through 2014. During that time, Sky won the High Point Hunter trophy twice, the High Point Pleasure trophy twice, and the High Point Quarter Horse trophy three times. She and Nan also won the Overall High Point Horse/Rider Combination trophy in 2014 and the CHC Hunter Derby twice.
After their CHC career, Nan and Sky competed mostly in the PSJ circuit, where they were very successful in the Pre-Adult and Adult divisions. They qualified for the PSJ Hunter Derby finals and the PSJ Medal finals several times. In 2023, Sky won the Fake It Till You Make It trophy as the top PSJ Pre-Adult Hunter of the year.
Starting in 2025, the new Key to the Blue trophy will be awarded each year to the top CHC Performance Hunter (2’6” and over), since Sky, with her brilliance over fences, especially shone as a hunter. It is Nan’s hope that the new trophy will inspire riders to compete in the CHC upper-level hunter divisions and will be awarded for many years to commemorate her horse of a lifetime.
