The Coastal Hunter Circuit was established in the late 1980s by stable owners and trainers to offer affordable, local opportunities for riders and horses. Over time, the event format has evolved—ranging from single-day, single-ring shows to multiday, multi-ring competitions—to accommodate fluctuating participation and changing facility availability. The circuit’s territory has spanned the Low Country from Charleston, SC, to St. Simons
Island, GA.

Adjustments have been made to fence heights and divisions to align with industry standards and meet riders’ needs. While the organization has adapted to changes in participation and venues, its commitment to supporting Hunter Seat riders in Georgia and South Carolina’s Low Country has remained constant.

The riders who have passed through this show ring have gone on to success in the Collegiate Horse Show world, the United States Equestrian Federation Horse Shows, and as professionals in the industry all over the country.

The Coastal Hunter Circuit continues to operate as a volunteer-driven organization.
